Acromioclavicular Joint (ACJ) Dislocation
Acromioclavicular Joint (ACJ) Dislocation, occurs when the strong ligaments connecting the clavicle (collarbone) to the acromion (shoulder blade) are stretched or torn. This injury typically results from a direct blow or a fall onto the point of the shoulder, causing the clavicle to push up and become prominent. Depending on the severity of the ligament damage, an ACJ Dislocation can cause significant pain, a visible bump or deformity, and weakness or instability in the shoulder.
Benefits of Treatment
Restore Shoulder Stability
Repair or reconstruct the torn ligaments to ensure the collarbone is securely held in its correct anatomical position.
Reduce Deformity
Correct the prominent "bump" or step-off at the top of the shoulder caused by the displaced collarbone.
Enable Return to Activity
Regain the strength and confidence necessary for an active lifestyle, especially demanding overhead or contact sports.
